Hope Solo accomplished a lifelong dream in July, winning a World Cup with the United States Women’s National Team. This October, another dream will come true for No. 1, when the USWNT makes a stop in Seattle on its Victory Tour.

On Monday, the U.S. Soccer announced the middle leg of the U.S. Women’s 10-game victory tour, a pair of contests against Brazil—the first on Oct. 21 at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, and the second against the same Brazilian squad on Oct. 25 in Orlando.

“It’s so exciting,” Hope told Q13 FOX’s Aaron Levine. “I’ve waited my entire career, and I’ve never had the privilege to play [for the USWNT] right here in my home state and especially in Seattle. This is a soccer city. I expect it to be a sellout crowd.”

Hope was born and raised in Richland, Wash., where she starred at Richland High School before heading to the Emerald City to play for the Washington Huskies. Now the two-time Golden Glove winning goalkeeper for the US National Team, as well as the starting net protector for Seattle Reign FC, Hope is thrilled at the opportunity to represent Team USA in her home state.

“My dream to win a World Cup started in the tri-cities, in eastern Washington, and I continued to live out that dream through high school, and on to club teams, and here on the western side of the state at the University of Washington, and now with the Seattle Reign FC,” Hope said. “It feels like it’s coming full-circle that I now get to play with the US team here in my home state as well.”

Hope has been out of action for the Reign since sustaining a minor knee injury during the World Cup, but the Seattle club remains atop the National Women’s Soccer League table with 30 points. In her interview with Levine, she reported that she’s progressing nicely and hopes to be back on the field soon with Megan Rapinoe and the rest of the Reign, and especially for the October exhibition with Brazil.

“I’m starting to feel pretty healthy,” Hope said. “I’ve taken four weeks off, but I’m ready to get back on the field.”

The Victory Tour begins on Sunday Aug. 16 in Pittsburgh with a match against Costa Rica, followed by another meeting with the same squad in Chattanooga, Tenn. three days later. It’ll pick up a month later with two tilts against Australia on Sept. 17 and 20 in Detroit and Birmingham, Ala. respectively.

Of course, the friendly matches have no bearing on any future international competitions. But as Hope explained, they’re all about growing the sport and sharing the USWNT’s World Cup triumph with the entire nation.

“We’re going to play in 10 different cities and bring the World Cup championship team all across the country,” Hope said. “We’re continuing to grow the sport whether we play on the US team or whether we play here with the Seattle Reign FC.”
